Artist Statement:
I am a maker of finely crafted ceramic objects intended to enhance daily living. Covid challenged me to work within the parameters of what was immediately available in terms of materials and firing methods. My focus has been on creating surfaces and forms that are comfortable and inviting while also being functional.
In this current series, I am meditatively carving through multiple layers of coloured slip. It is slow work that quietly reveals patterns reminiscent of the night sky, water currents, the shapes created by wind across the landscape. In each carving, patterns are created and then interrupted. I love the way this challenges the eye and hand to move across the forms looking for repetition and changing motifs. – Teresa Dunlop
Care & Use: Vessels are food safe. The works containing gold lustre are not dishwasher friendly and should be hand washed.
Material: Made with clay, coloured slip and glaze. Each piece goes through multiple firings in an electric kiln.
