Description

Natalie’s black bowls are made with black clay thrown on a wheel.  She uses a combination of surface decoration techniques ranging from shaping the form, and sinuous rim design.  She fires the pieces multiple times in an electric kiln, carefully building up the layer of design, texture, and colour until it is ready to go out into the world.

Care & Use: The bowls are functional and may contain food or water. Hand-wash with piece with care.

About The Artist

Natalie Waddell

Natalie Waddell is a Toronto-based ceramic artist. She graduated from the Ceramic Craft and Design program at Sheridan College  in 2003 and has continued her studies by attending workshops lead by local and international artists and educators. Since establishing her studio practice, Waddell has continuously explored and developed new bodies of functional and sculptural work. She was a judge on Season 1 of CBC's The Great Canadian Pottery Throw Down.
