Description

The glass sculptural work of Mary Louise White begins first with idea research, drawing, clay sketches, and eventually model making. The materials for the models are selected according to the shape and size and intention of the piece, and range from various clays and waxes to foam, and occasionally organic materials. An investment mould is built around the model, and the original model material removed, destroying the model in the process. The completed and cleaned mould is measured for volume, charged with glass and fired in a kiln according to a firing schedule determined by the pieces being fired. The fired sculpture is divested, cleaned and cold worked with reverence and gratitude.

Care & Use: Decorative only. Handle the sculpture with both hands by the base. Please avoid expose to extremes of temperature or intense focused light, as a variation of temperature within the glass can cause internal stress.

Material: Kiln cast glass sculpture. Bullseye glass.
