Description

I incorporate an interactive aspect to my work. Being able to touch, move or engage with a piece allows there to be a deeper connection to the art. I have an interest in ergonomics and how a person would come in contact with an object.  I enjoy being able to play with the complexities of how to handle a piece, whether it be serving food or putting flowers in to a vase. By adding a sculptural aspect to a functional dish, I am giving permission to touch art.  It is a playful and liberating to know one can put their hands on a sculpture and feel its textures and form. – Marla Benton

Care & Use: For pieces that have carved crows, while these are dishwasher safe, hand washing is recommended for the longevity of the product.  Marla puts her pieces in the dishwasher, but finds that over years of daily dish washer use, the abrasive soaps can dull the surface of the glaze. Not recommended for microwave use due to speckled clay materials.  *Please note that functional pieces with crow sculptures are not recommended for dishwashers and not microwave safe

Material: Stoneware clay fired to cone 6, and glaze.

Measurement (in.): L9.75 x W9.75 x H2.25

Weight (lb. & oz.): 1 pound & 14.5 ounces

SKU: 556007
