Description
The majority of Larry’s work is turned on a wood lathe. Most of the wood and burl woods used come from Ontario, primarily sourced from firewood cuts or waste from hardwood logging operations. Larry uses a chainsaw and/or bandsaw to saw the larger blocks of wood into usable pieces, which are then lathe-turned into various shapes. These rough and crude-shaped bowls and round blanks are set aside for 6 to 12 months to dry. Once the blanks are dry, they are returned to the lathe to be turned into their final shapes. All of the shaping is done by hand using various chisels, and no two works are exactly the same. Each piece has its own unique shape, grain, and character.
