Description
Katja continues to investigate the workings of her mind in her most recent series of suspended sculptures called “Hirngespinst”, the German word for figment of the imagination. The word conjures up images of spinning and weaving. She explores these figments by combining fibre and Japanese stone clay. Drawn to the contradictory nature of these two materials, the fibre expresses the figment’s movement, and the clay manifests the movement giving it permanence, much like a snapshot.
