Artist Statement:

My sculptural work is rooted in representational imagery, emphasizing the possibilities of working with clay and the relationship between form and surface. ‘In Bloom’ showcases a series of stylized ceramic flowers and bouquets, with each piece possessing its own distinct form and surface design.

Utilizing various glazes and techniques to craft imagery, surface decoration becomes integral to interpreting the work, while also enhancing the tactile qualities of both materials and subject matter. – Julie Moon

Care & Use: Decorative only. Handle the sculpture by the bottom where the heaviest part is.

About The Artist

Julie Moon

Julie Moon is a Toronto-based ceramic artist whose practice is deeply rooting in the process of making. Her work ranges from figurative and abstract sculpture to functional pottery and accessories. Julie graduated from the Material Art and Design Program at OCAD University in 2005 and received her MFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University in 2010. She has exhibited extensively in Toronto and the US.
