Description
Jocelyn Jenkins crafts each of her pieces using a combination of hand building and wheel throwing. Afterwards, she carves intricate decorations onto the surface using a technique called sgraffito. The colours and decorations are intensified by applying multiple layers of underglaze and tinted transparent glazes. Sgraffito is her preferred surface decoration technique- it allows her to pluck images from daily life and to move back and forth across the blurry line that divides pure decoration from narration.
Care & Use: Functional ware is food-safe and dishwasher safe, though special care is recommended for pieces with sculptural attachments to avoid breakage.
