Filipa Pimentel’s carved collection emphasizes the character of hand made objects. Though striving for perfection in each piece she creates, the imperfections and slight differences is what makes each piece special. She uses a special tool to carve out the clay creating a repetitive pattern on the surface. Giving the collection a texture similar to granite.

About The Artist

Filipa Pimentel

Filipa Pimentel was born in Cascais, Portugal and grew up in the suburbs of Toronto. Filipa studied ceramics at OCAD University and graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Design. Since graduation, Filipa has established a ceramic design business focused on functional tableware and decorative art pieces. She is fascinated by the ocean and draws her inspiration from frequent summer vacations to Portugal and trips to the Caribbean.
