Description

Brenda’s functional work is predominately cone 6 porcelain. Techniques include wheel throwing and slab building. The majority of her pieces are hand painted and then airbrushed with underglazes and a clear cover glaze.

” Functional vessels often incorporate a theme using dragons, frogs, and icons from Newfoundland including the newest line derived from a splash of water. Inspiration comes from keeping a keen eye open to what nature has to offer when you look closer. My sculptural work endeavors to reveal the smallest of treasures that nature offers, in the hopes that it will inspire others to appreciate her worth.”

About The Artist

Brenda Sullivan

Brenda’s life affair with clay began in Montreal, Quebec when her neighbor invited the “New Kids” over for a pottery wheel demonstration…Ten years later her studio studio gallery, Earthly Goods, opened. During the next fifty years, Brenda supplied production work to boutiques, galleries, and gift stores. Several moves later, Dragon Clay Gallery opened in Port Hope. Nature never ceases to provide all the inspiration that she needs. Over the years, her functional work has morphed into different themes. Brenda continues to explore larger sculptural pieces and a marrying of the two fields - functional and sculptural.
