I love the way a piece starts out as an idea with a lump of clay and transcends. As I work on it, it starts to take on an energy of its own. With the form and texture as a source of inspiration, I search out for words, texts, and found objects to incorporate into my creations. My goal is to end up with a work that the observer can get lost in. Where they can explore, finding their own meaning over time. – Andrea Sinclair
Care & Use: Andrea’s work is designed primarily for decorative and display purposes. However, the works are also utilitarian with glazed interiors that are food and water safe.
Material: Andrea works in Cone 6 mid-fire clays. As her work is texture-driven, she uses underglazes and underglaze washes to highlight the surfaces of her work. Employing glazes more as as a highlight, or on the interior of her pieces. This highlights the undulation of the design or as needed for functional purposes.
