Description

Alison Brannen brings a painterly, experimental approach to ceramics as a medium. She is technically accomplished in the production of large-scale wheel thrown & hand-built ceramics. She uses Kintsugi, the art of Japanese gold repair, in many of her pieces.

Care & Use: Imperfections and fine surface cracks are the result of the firing process are intentional and part of the beauty of the piece. Some pieces have kintsugi gold repair lines, which enhance the quality and timelessness of the piece. These works are decorative and not intended to hold water or food. Dust or wipe with a damp cloth to clean.

About The Artist

Alison Brannen

Alison Brannen is a Toronto-based artist who has been working in clay for 20 years. She creates sculptural works featuring textured surfaces that suggest disintegration, shedding, and falling away. Each piece records the marks of its firing and vary in colour, pattern, size, and weight. Brannen has an MFA in printmaking and photography from the University of New Mexico Albuquerque and a BFA in painting from York University.
