Swallow Jewellery
Shoko started Swallow Jewellery in 2013 with simple wire-wrapped Jewellery and over the years she learned to silversmith and use a material called silver clay. In 2017, her life partner, Nicky joined the brand and now they work together on design, creation, and every aspect of running Swallow Jewellery out of their little home studio in Victoria, BC.
We create nature and culture imprinted silver Jewellery. The beautiful natural environment on Vancouver Island, travel, hikes and beachcombing inspire us to create jewellery that are imprints of nature items as well as vintage objects.
Sun-bleached coral, wild honeycomb, nineteenth century lace – every object has a story. When Shoko and Nicky find an object they want to incorporate into their Jewellery, they bring each gift home and preserve their patterns with silicone. Then an imprint is transferred to a material called silver clay which is a pliable metal made of recycled silver. Next, they fire up the kiln and the clay burns off, leaving them with 99% fine silver pieces.
