Wheel Throwing: Stoneware (Intermediate)

For ages 18+
Advance your skills working with stoneware on the pottery wheel to create functional and sculptural vessels. This course is designed for students who have some experience with the pottery wheel.
This class includes a 10kg bag of stoneware clay, and access to glazes and underglazes. Additional bags of clay can be purchased for $35 each.
Class dates: January 8, 15, 22, 29, February 5, 12, 19, 26
Class Outline:
- Week 1: Throwing and analyzing cylinders
- Week 2: Throwing on bat and throwing large pieces
- Week 3: Trimming and refining
- Week 4: Glazing
- Week 5: Closed form and lidded pots
- Week 6: Knobs and handles
- Week 7: Trimming and refining works
- Week 8: Glazing

- Please ensure the course you choose works with your schedule. For any withdrawals, a non-refundable fee of $50 fee per course will be charged, regardless of the reason for withdrawal. Instructor
Annika Hoefs
Annika Hoefs is a Toronto-based artist and educator, specializing in ceramics. She holds a Bachelor of Material Art and Design from OCAD University where she initially focused on textiles, but graduated with a full concentration in ceramics. Alongside her studio practice, she has been teaching ceramic classes to students of all ages and skill levels since 2016. Annika’s functional and sculptural ceramics can be found in select gallery shops, restaurants, and luxury hotels, locally and internationally.
