Wheel Throwing: Gardiner Collections (All Levels)

For ages 18+
Learn the art of the potter’s wheel. Create functional and sculptural pieces with earthenware clay and glazes, inspired by wheel-thrown works in the Gardiner Museum’s collections. This class is suitable for all levels.
This class includes a 10kg bag of clay, and access to glazes and underglazes. Additional bags of clay can be purchased for $35 each.
Class dates: January 11, 18, 25, February 1, 8, 22, March 1, 8
No class on February 15
Class Outline:
- Week 1: Throwing cylinders
- Week 2: Trimming
- Week 3: Recap on throwing and trimming, free throw
- Week 4: Glazing
- Week 5: Vase or mug
- Week 6: Handles, free throw
- Week 7: Trimming and refining works
- Week 8: Glazing

- Please ensure the course you choose works with your schedule. For any withdrawals, a non-refundable fee of $50 fee per course will be charged, regardless of the reason for withdrawal. No withdrawals will be accepted within 10 business days of the class start date, regardless of the reason for withdrawal.
- Using the pottery wheel may cause serious injury to a person who has a pacemaker. Consult a physician before use.

Instructor
Annika Hoefs
Annika Hoefs is a Toronto-based artist and educator, specializing in ceramics. She holds a Bachelor of Material Art and Design from OCAD University where she initially focused on textiles, but graduated with a full concentration in ceramics. Alongside her studio practice, she has been teaching ceramic classes to students of all ages and skill levels since 2016. Annika’s functional and sculptural ceramics can be found in select gallery shops, restaurants, and luxury hotels, locally and internationally.
