Students have the option of exploring decoration techniques directly on their pieces of pottery or working on clay tiles to experiment with surface treatments for future pieces. This class is open to beginners who are interested in the graphic qualities of ceramics or students with any level of pottery-making or sculpture experience who want to extent their knowledge of surface treatment.

• Earthenware clay
• Hand building and wheel throwing (6 wheels available for use)
• Decorating techniques including slipwork, sgraffito, mishima (inlay), carving, sprigging, cuerda seca, stenciling, resist, and image transfer
• 70 commercial brushing glazes

Health & Safety

• Our class sizes have been reduced and the distance between participants at tables and wheels has been increased to allow for physical distancing
• You MUST wear a mask during class
• Studios are sanitized between classes
• Hand sanitizer is available for your use
• If you want to use an apron, please bring one from home. Alternatively, you can purchase a disposable apron for $1
• There are no make-up classes. Please make sure the course you choose works with your schedule.
