Artist Tour with Amélie Proulx and Laurent Craste

What’s On / Programs & Events / Artist Tour with Amélie Proulx and Laurent Craste

Thursday May 23, 2024
6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

Featured artists Amélie Proulx and Laurent Craste will lead a tour spotlighting their works in the International Ceramic Art Fair (ICAF). They are represented by Chiguer Art Contemporain in Québec.

Amélie Proulx’s work emphasizes the constant flux of living things. Drawing upon the codes and techniques of arts and crafts, she pushes the limits of ceramics, while defying expectations and giving way to freedom in her approach. The end result is embodied in evocative shapes that exhibit an appealing fragility.

At the heart of Laurent Craste’s artistic pursuit is the decorative object. His research centers on the conceptual explorations of the multilayered meanings of decorative collectibles, encompassing their sociological, historical, ideological, and aesthetic dimensions. This approach revolves around the re-appropriation of historical ceramic archetypes.
