Director's Message - January 2017
If you’ve been to the Gardiner recently, you’ve probably noticed that our lobby transformation is underway. Demolition is now complete, and we’ve reopened the Museum to the public.
By Spring 2017, we’ll have a revamped Gardiner Shop with sleek new display cases where we’ll highlight work by Canadian ceramists, and a brand new Community Clay Studio. Gardiner Friends can look forward to upcoming retail shows featuring Chiho Tokita and Eden Bender, and a new emphasis on workshops that promote mindfulness and well-being through clay.
This transformation is made possible by the generosity of our Gardiner Friends, who helped us surpass our goal of $550,000 for a total of $558,000! We are especially grateful to Laura Dinner and Richard Rooney for their generous gift of $150,000—our first contribution to the redevelopment—toward the construction of the Laura Dinner and Richard Rooney Community Clay Studio.
We’ll continue to keep you updated as the renovation unfolds, and we look forward to celebrating the official opening with you in April.
Sincerely,
Kelvin Browne
